Sustainability
cannot be improvised.

It’s the fundamental drive that characterizes everything we do:

the way we operate, our products, and the services we offer.

Sustainability is the core of our ethos, guiding our actions and decisions. It defines our business approach and aims to inspire the companies we work with. It doesn’t end with the product itself.

Rebrain India selects and promotes ambitious environmental and social projects, partnering with local nonprofit organizations.

PRAMEYA FOUNDATION

Rebrain India and The Good Idea have teamed up to support the activities of the Prameya Foundation, as an official partner in the task force of the United Nation Decade (2021- 2030) on Ecosystem Restoration.

Prameya is an Indian nonprofit organization that supports the people of the eastern Himalayas and Sundarbans in their struggle against the consequences of global climate change by engaging them in projects involving forest conservation and restoration, community education, and women's empowerment.

Why mangroves?

  • Protect again extreme water and disasters
  • Are a haven for threatened animals
  • Boost food security
  • Can bounce back naturally
  • They store on average 1,000 tonnes of carbon per hectare in their biomass and underlying soils.

Mangrove Restoration Project

It's the exciting and challenging project to recover the endangered Sagar Island ecosystem by planting 200,000 mangrove trees this year.

This project of the Prameya Foundation, together with Rebrain India and The Good Idea and in collaboration with the local women of the Mangrove Action Committee, focuses on creating a natural barrier of 10 hectares against cyclones, coastal erosion, and sea level rise. In addition, mangroves can absorb large amounts of carbon dioxide, host high levels of biodiversity, and contribute to secure local communities subsistence.

Science-backed Tonnes

Science-backed CO2 isn't linked to a carbon credit, but nevertheless reliable as resulting from a scientific measurement and estimation of the CO2 tonnes absorbed.

Certified Tonnes

Certified tonnes are CO2 tonnes linked to carbon credits which certify an exact amount that can be offset.

Ocean Bound Plastic

Ocean Bound Plastic (OBP) is plastic waste abandoned within 50 km from shores “at risk of ending up in the sea.” Approximately 80% of marine litter is OBP. Once collected and transformed, it becomes one of the most creative materials in our meaningful line of products.

Zero Plastic Oceans established the Ocean Bound Plastic certification program to ensure that OBP waste is collected, managed, and recycled adequately and ethically.

With Good Idea, as a member of the Standard Development Committee, we moved forward to launch a new certification that aims not only to reduce pollution but also to create social impact.

Recycling with trust and transparency means creating dignified livelihoods. Our fair trade supply chains connect global brands to local waste collectors who become active players in transitioning the industry to an inclusive circular economy.
